Tropic Fishery Urges China-Sri Lanka FTA Following 10.6M Liter Diesel Donation

On December 2, 2022, representatives from Tropic Fishery Pvt Ltd met with Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong to officially express their gratitude for China's donation of 10.6 million liters of diesel. The fuel grant arrived at a crucial time for Sri Lanka's agricultural and fisheries sectors, which had been severely impacted by national fuel shortages. During the meeting, the Tropic Fishery CEO and Director not only thanked the embassy on behalf of the company and local fishermen, but also used the opportunity to urge for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to help expand Sri Lankan exports into the broader Chinese market.
